Android Oreo Wifi Issues

Android Oreo Wifi Issues

For those Android Oreo users whom are experiencing wifi problems, try the following steps:

1 – With both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi enabled on your router (not smart connect) save both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi connections onto your Android Oreo device. Connect to each network, one at a time and enter the password and make sure the connection works. Then best to stay on the 5g connection for now.

2 – Then on your Android Oreo device, go into settings, and disable Bluetooth Scanning.

It has been reported that the bluetooth scanning function on Oreo interferes with the 2.4 GHz scanning on the Orio device. This in turn has the effect of making the device unable to switch from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz when the 5 GHz signal is too weak.

This is not an ASUS only issue, but is common amongst other Router manufactures, but I am leaning towards it being Broadcom based, as not reading any issues of other wifi chipset manufactures having same problem’s in there routers

Hope this helps?

This Forum was originally created to provide a means to allow users of ASUS (SOHO) Routers - both Wireless and xDSL (modem) based to freely communicate within a Community type forum where members can work together towards sharing experience, knowledge and ideas, I have recently also been asked to include Netgear and AVM wifi / modem based routers for discussion. All I ask is that we are all fair and reasonable, we try to add value where we can and not use this forum for other non community agendas and lastly, please feel free to dop me a message offline if you feel in anyways I can improve upon this site etc.
